Southern Vermont Couple’s House built of bales relies on earth, wind, sun.

It seems incongruous (some who don’t know better might say idiotic) to build a house of straw in one of the country’s coldest climates. But Juliet Cuming and David Shaw wanted a house that would be biodegradable and recyclable. And they wanted it in southern Vermont.
